After a pretty mild December, January has come out in full force. In the North West, at least, it is bloody freezing. On top of that the wind blowing across the Mersey is pretty fierce most of the time. All of that can take its toll on your skin! While we’re all pretty on top of our skincare routines in the cold weather, I personally am forever forgetting to incorporate winter hand care.

Green People’s Manuka & Lemon Tea Tree Range

I spend a fair part of my commute on foot, so my hands are exposed to the elements for quite a bit of time every day. The result is sore, dry hands, with cracked skin and painful cuticles. It’s no fun! In the past, I’ve tried carrying hand cream with me in my bag, but I never got round to actually using it. So when Green People contacted me last month, asking if I wanted to partake in a 30-day challenge using their brand-new Manuka & Lemon Tea Tree Hand Cream* and correlating Hand Wash*, I knew I had to try out a different approach if I wanted to benefit fully.

Updating my Winter Hand Care Routine

My main reason for neglecting previous winter hand care routines was that I quite simply forgot about it. So, I decided to make a tiny change to set myself up for success. I simply placed the tube of hand cream where I couldn’t forget about it: right next to the sink. It seems like a ridiculously small change, but it was exactly what I needed to do. I’ve now managed to get myself into the habit of using the Green People hand cream at least once every morning and evening.

As I hoped, my hands are softer and I don’t suffer from dryness anymore. I’ve also managed to completely eliminate the chapped skin and broken cuticles, which I so often experienced as a result of cold weather. My hands are in much better shape, and they smell amazing, too! I’d say it’s on my repurchase list, but I have a feeling the tube is going to last me quite a while. You only need the tiniest amount, and I’ve barely made a dent in the contents over the past 30 days.

Green People - organic winter hand care with the lemon tea tree & manuka range

The hand cream is 91% organic, and contains lemon tea tree, olive-derived squalane, manuka, and shea butter. It’s naturally anti-bacterial, making it a wonderful choice for your handbag, car, or desk… if you don’t have the same problem I do and forget to use it, that is! The matching hand wash is 80% organic and, despite being anti-bacterial, is really gentle. I was concerned that the addition of tea tree would be drying or irritating to the skin, but it isn’t at all – Green People even state that it’s suitable to those prone to eczema and psoriasis! As I mentioned in a previous post, my only concern is the plastic packaging, which is something we’re all battling with at the moment. It’s not something that Green People ignore, either – you can read their statement on it here.
