Hi ghouls!

We (that’s me, Hannah, my husband Jake, who helps with the tech side of things, and Spoopy, our house ghosts) are so glad you found us. Modern Ghosts is your digital destination for alternative lifestyle and wellbeing. By alternative, we mean goth vibes rather than homeopathy, but there’s lots of content about complementary wellness here, too! Being the millenial Elder Emos that we are, we love sharing alt lifestyle content about style, music, and our home – but we’re also super-conscious of the environment, plant-based, and committed to living as ethically as we possibly can. We want to make sure our children go into a future that is fairer and cleaner than the one we’re currently heading towards. For us, that means going beyond plastic-free swaps (although we like them, too), and centring our lifestyles (and politics) around our ethics. You’ll find lots of posts and content around all of this on Modern Ghosts, from the heavier info, like why eco-consumerism won’t save the world, to the light-hearted (like how to BYO susty goth capsule wardrobe).

I’m a plaggy metalcore b***h, Jake’s and indie and punk-pop boy, and our music tastes are possibly the biggest influence on our lives. We’re also parents of two little ones, who won’t be featuring online, as well as what feels like half a zoo. I love reading and any form of spooky storytelling, but I hate being scared, so our watchlist these days is more Shaun of the Dead and What We Do in the Shadows than Scream. I’m also terrified of anything to do with True Crime, so we compromise on Only Murders in the Building. Like I said. Plaggy.

Together, we’re also into plant-based cooking (well. I bake), fitness (currently trying to see who can squat their own bodyweight first, but I’ve a strong suspicion it won’t be me), and overall health and wellbeing, both mental and physical. We always take the approach of complementary rather than alternative remedies – you’ll find no anti-vaxxing here.

Our home is also shared with Spoopy, who makes the occasional appearance over on instagram.
